지난해 10월 일본 아오모리시행 대한항공비행기에 올랐다. 맑은 날씨. 우리나라땅이 내려다 보이고, 어느덧 강릉을 지나 동해를 지나 2시간정도만에 아오모리에 도착했다. 예부터 항구로 교통중심지로 알려졌다고는 하지만, 원래는 일본땅이 아니었다고 한다. 탄광이 유명했고, 우리나라 사람들이 강제징용돼 이곳 탄광에서 노역을 했다고 한다. 심지어 한국으로 돌아오는 배를 파선해 500여명의 한국징용자들이 목숨을 잃은 일도 있었다고 한다. 동쪽으로 태평양, 북쪽으로 쓰가루(津輕)해협, 서쪽으로 동해와 접한다. 쓰가루 반도와 시모키타(下北) 반도가 무쓰 만(陸奧灣)을 둘러싸고 있다. 춥고 눈이 많은 긴 겨울이 있어 혼자사는 사람들에게는 정서상 위험하다는 이야기도 들었다. 우리나라 설악산 중턱같은 느낌이다. 단풍도 좋았고..
